OUR STORY
God's faithfulness knows no end.
Planted in 1979 to proclaim Jesus Christ.
Cedar Creek Baptist Church began as a mission of Belmont Baptist Church. After much praying, planning and preparation, the inaugural service was held October 7, 1979 in the Cedar Creek Grange Hall, with an attendance of 54. Twelve families became charter members. We met weekly at Cedar Creek Grange Hall for 7 years. Land for a church building was donated by Joseph W. and Tatiana Y Dubard in 1980. We were constituted as a church in 1984. We occupied the current church building in April of 1987. A new fellowship hall/education wing was added in 1992. We are currently making plans for a new worship center and the remodeling of existing space to provide for education ministries.
Our church has been served by the following pastors: Rev. Hugh Greene, Rev. Alvin Bozard, Dr. Dalton Ward (Pastor Emeritus), Rev. Ron Zedick, Rev. Bryant Spivey, Rev. Todd Horton, Rev. Eric Sloan, Rev. Stephen Gantt, Rev. Jimmy Goudelock, Rev. James. W. (“J”) Thompson, III. We were honored to have Dr. Jerry K. Sosebee to serve for a time as our Transitional Pastor leading us through the time between Senior Pastors.
In September of 2024, we were excited to announce that Pastor Andy Moore has been called by our church family as our new Lead Pastor! The pastor search team, guided by prayer and careful consideration, felt led to seek out a leader who embodies our mission and values. After a thorough and Spirit-filled process, we discovered Pastor Andy, whose passion for community and spiritual growth resonated deeply with our vision. With over 25 years of pastoral experience, Pastor Andy brings a wealth of knowledge to CCBC. He attended Boyce College at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary; and looks forward to furthering his education at Columbia International University.
Throughout this journey, it became clear that God’s hand was at work, bringing the right person to our church at just the right time. Pastor Andy is married to Charley, who shares his dedication to ministry. Together, they have five children: Noah (25), Ian (23), Isaac (22), Judah (20), and Arabella Grace (18).
As we embark on this exciting new chapter together, we invite each of you to join us in welcoming Pastor Andy with open arms and hearts. His enthusiasm for ministry and commitment to our community will inspire us all as we grow in faith and fellowship. Let’s embrace this new season with joy and anticipation, knowing that God has great plans for our church family!
We have been blessed with many good staff workers: Youth – David Abercrombie, Cynthia Lever, Ben Newman, Al Kight, Ryan Perry, William Easom, Roger & Angela Wells, Chris & Claudia Kamen, John and Abby Harrell and Drew Clemmons; Music – Yvonne Howard, Madge Strickland, Michael Davis, Emily Rodgers, Lee Myers, Jim Gill, Tripp Koon, Kevin Mulligan, and Valerie Bolton. We are also honored to have our present worship leader, Charley Moore, serving CCBC. Susan Wells is serving as our interim church pianist.
We are a mission-minded church, with members participating in local, state and international missions. In our brief history, our missions giving has exceeded a half million dollars. We are active supporters of Cooperative Program mission causes. Our annual budget missions giving is over 11 % of all General Fund receipts.
We have several ministries opportunities for adults that meet throughout the year. Our men's ministry gathers every month for “Farm to Table” that meets at Fabel Farms the 3rd Monday of each month. We have active Women’s Missions groups (“Fruitbearers”) — that promote and lead in mission projects and women’s ministries. There are also several women's bible studies that meet throughout the year. In the recent years, members of our church have served on several short term mission. We also have a senior adult community-wide group, Young at Heart, that meets once a month on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Be sure to visit our calender of events and our Linktree for news and events.
Cedar Creek Baptist Church continues to be a vibrant congregation in the Cedar Creek Community. We invite you to come and grow with us as we share the joy of Christ in our neighborhood and around the world.
Church Vision Verse: “I am the Vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me, you can do nothing.”
